ONE AND J. Gallery was founded in September 2005 in Seoul as one of the first galleries to focus primarily on young contemporary Korean artists.

The gallery quickly established a reputation for its curatorial approach and the strength of its program was evidenced by the compelling group exhibitions the represented artists have participated in to date. Artists represented by the gallery have participated in an impressive array of group and solo exhibitions since the inception of the gallery. Most recent exhibitions include: Gwangju Biennale (2012, 2010 and 2008); Dunedin Public Art Gallery (2013); Esslingen Foto and Media Triennale (2013); Adelaide International (2012); Wellington Art Galleryt (2014); Daegu Photo Biennale (2012); Incheon Women Artist Biennale (2012); Chaotic Harmony at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and shows held at the Hite Collection (Seoul); Spencer of Museum of Art; Nam June Paik Art Center; Artsonje; House of World Cultures (Berlin); National Museum of Contemporary Art; Seoul Museum of Art; David Roberts Art Foundation; Somerset House; the Mori Museum; the Singapore Biennale; the Asia Pacific Triennale; The Echigo-Tsumari Triennial; Officina Asia; and Samsung Museum of Art.

Works from the gallery are in the permanent collection of the Spencer Museum, the Mori Museum, Queensland Museum of Art, National Gallery of Victoria, Samsung Museum of Art, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, LACMA, the Hammer, the Hirshhorn Museum, Seoul Museum of Art, Sungkok Museum of Art, the Iljoo Foundation, the Burger Collection, K-11 Art Project, Bank of America, UBS, Fidelity Investments, MUDAM(The Contemporary Art Museum of Luxembourg), and MoCA Busan.

The gallery has participated most recently at Art Basel Miami, Art Basel, Art Basel Hong Kong, the Armory Show, Art Los Angeles Contemporary, and Frieze London, Taipei Dangdai, and has been awarded 20th the Baloise Art Prize at Art Basel 2018.
